Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the latest transfer demand from Antonio Conte for Tottenham Hotspur amid the January transfer window.

The Spurs correspondent believes the Italian manager has identified central midfield as a key area in which he would like to see addressed this month.

Who would you rather see start under Conte?

Gold has previously claimed the Lilywhites have noted three areas of improvement for the January window with a right wing-back, central defender and striker on the list.

Reports have suggested Tanguy Ndombele’s future could be in doubt with the Frenchman clearly not in Conte’s immediate plans having struggled massively for game time since being appointed in November.

Conte has spoken openly in his press conferences since joining Spurs of his wish to improve the squad over the January window, albeit insisting January will not transform the squad.

And discussing the 52-year-old’s wish to add another central midfielder, Gold had the following to say on the matter:

“So if you didn’t see my video last week, or articles I’ve recently written, there’s a feeling within the club that Spurs needed a right wing-back, a left-sided centre-back and another striker. From what I understand, Conte agrees with that, but also would like a central midfielder. That’s what I understand, they’re the kind of four priority positions.

“Central midfield is an interesting one. Like I said, that’s the one I know Conte wants to add to that list of potential new recruits.”

TIF Thoughts on a new midfielder…

If you asked the question a few months ago, we’d have probably said the Spurs midfielder was all but confirmed for the foreseeable future with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp.

The Danish midfielder has played almost every minute of Premier League action since arriving at Spurs but his performances have slipped recently with the 26-year-old not quite looking himself.

Franck Kessie and Weston McKennie have been linked with potential moves to north London but we are interested to see whether it would be Skipp or Hojbjerg replaced if Conte was to keep a two-man midfield.

Skipp has reportedly impressed Conte since he arrived, however, it has often been Skipp taken off before Hojbjerg in the Premier League as Conte opts for the Dane’s experience later on in the game.
