Phil Hay has been speaking about the interest that Leeds United hold in Boubacar Kamara.

Leeds United are certainly in need of midfield reinforcements as they were after the likes of Conor Gallagher and Lewis O’Brien but ultimately failed in their pursuit of both of them, so considering that Kalvin Phillips is also now out for a prolonged period of time, that desire for someone new might be even more important.

Will Leeds make signings this January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Someone who was linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer was Kamara according to RMC radio station (via Mail Online), although nothing progressed and he is now set to be out of contract in the summer, but that has not stopped Leeds from being linked with a potential cut-price move for the midfielder.

Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, Hay himself confirmed Leeds’ interest in Kamara.

“I’ve seen Kamara at Marseille linked as well. He would be good, I think they’ve looked at him. Again, I don’t get the impression that they’re on with that one particularly, or they’re going to do anything there.”

TIF Thoughts on Kamara…

The midfielder has been linked with some top clubs as he won’t be signing a new contract in the summer so clubs are clearly interested in someone capable of playing in both midfield and as a centre back and Leeds will have a battle on their hands to sign him.

The pull that Leeds may have is Marcelo Bielsa and given he has worked at Marseille successfully in the past, they may be more inclined to listen to offers from a club he is at, but if Kamara becomes a free agent, it could be difficult for Leeds to compete with clubs such as Newcastle United and Manchester United when it comes to offering wages and signing on bonuses.
