Charlie Eccleshare has been speaking on The Athletic’s YouTube channel about what Tottenham Hotspur could do in the remainder of Deadline Day.

Spurs have already been very busy on Deadline Day, with both Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski joining from Juventus. Meanwhile, Dele Alli is set to leave the club and fellow midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has already left on loan.

Have Spurs signed enough players?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

While bringing in two players on Deadline Day could be seen as good business, with Bryan Gil also leaving on loan, that would see Spurs having lost more players than they’ve brought in, so Eccleshare wouldn’t be surprised if another incoming cropped up.

Speaking on Monday morning prior to the confirmation of these deals, Eccleshare said Spurs could surprise a few people on Deadline Day.

“There may be some surprise buys as well from Spurs. I mean, right wing-back is the area they haven’t yet strengthened that they wanted to going into the window.

“What we were told was a midfielder [and an] attacker [were on their list] – and they will have done two of those with the Juve pair, and then it’s do they go in for a right wing-back?”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ transfer business…

While the double signing of Bentancur and Kulusevski will likely make Antonio Conte a happier manager, with more outgoings than incomings, there will surely be a desire to keep improving the squad if possible as the deadline looms.

While shifting players such as Ndombele and Alli will help free up space on the wage bill, it will mean very little to Conte or Spurs fans if that isn’t reinvested into helping improve the squad for the Champions League push before Monday’s cut-off.

The two signings that have been made were not asked for by Conte, Conte wanted a right wing back, a left footed centre back, an attacking creative midfielder and a striker, Levy has bought a winger and a defensive midfielder, it has panic buy all over it, good job Paratici is in contact with Juventus or we wouldn’t have signed anyone. Nobody wants to deal with Levy, he’s burnt so many bridges. Can’t wait for the protest outside the training ground tomorrow, they’ll be calling for Levy’s head.
