Leeds United fans’ biggest worry of losing Raphinha could be looking safe for the time being, as the star man is close to agreeing a new deal at Elland Road, according to the Daily Star.

The Star’s report suggests the Brazilian is thought to be on wages of around £55k a week at the moment, with a new deal set to almost double that salary to put him on around £100k a week.

Will Raphinha sign a new contract at Leeds?

Journalist Jeremy Cross also mentioned that he has been a target for Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, so a new deal would leave those clubs needing to pay a mega fee to take Marcelo Bielsa’s prized asset away.

What the Leeds fans said…

“Please be real.”

“Good, but the wages are getting really scary now.”

“Great work from Orta.”

“Well worth the money.”

“Great news!”

“Worth every penny.”

I had a dream last night and Raphinha told me he would sign a 5 year deal and stay at @LUFC for £120,000 a week looks like my dream is coming true”

It’s evident to see why the Leeds fans are desperate for this to happen, as not only has Raphinha been in impressive form all season, he has the numbers to back it up.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

He has played 18 times in the league for Leeds, contributing 10 goals for his side – hitting the back of the net eight times himself and assisting twice.

The Brazilian was bought for just £17m when joining from Rennes in October 2020, so his value could well skyrocket if a new long-term contract was agreed to make it harder for other clubs to sign him. Or who knows, there could even be a release clause in there that’s stupidly high.
