Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a potential swoop of Takumi Minamino in the January transfer window.

When it comes to players arriving at Elland Road this January, it’s been an incredibly slow window for Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa, with just the one player coming through the door in the form of youngster Mateo Joseph Fernandez.

Given that he’ll be joining up with the U23 side, it won’t make much of a difference to the senior squad.

They have been linked with plenty of players, though, and one of the names that has emerged recently has been that of Minamino at Liverpool. According to the PA news agency (via Independent), Leeds have already submitted an approach for the 27-year-old, as have French side AS Monaco, but Liverpool have rejected those initial approaches.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

This news was relayed to fans on Twitter by journalist Carl Markham for them to react to, where it seemed as though there were plenty of supporters delighted to see him linked with a move to Elland Road:

“Been saying I would love us to go for him”
“Get him in @LUFC
“Painful this. Minamino would be a class addition to the team tbh”
“Would quite fancy a Minamino loan move in fairness…”
“This has come out of no where this one highly doubt it but one to keep an eye on for sure #LUFC”
“Said it last season he’d be class for us! Doooooo it! Do it!”
“Minamino is just the type of forward that would help keep the myth alive about how good we would be if we just had a player that could finish. Indeed, just enough potential to keep believing in but ultimately a player that wastes more than he scores. Sign him up”

Will Leeds making a senior signing this January?

The Japanese forward has been somewhat starved of minutes at Anfield, making just 49 appearances with the vast majority of them coming from the bench over the past two and a half seasons. He has previously expressed his frustration over a lack of minutes at the club, so perhaps Leeds can offer him more regular game time.

Let’s see if they decide to make another move before the window closes on Monday evening.
