A number of Celtic fans have reacted online after seeing Vasilis Barkas is supposedly set to leave their club in the upcoming January transfer window.

Indeed, as reported by Sky Sports, the Greece international is being eyed up by a number of Turkish clubs – though none are actually named.

The 27-year-old has played just once all season, with Joe Hart now very much seen as the Bhoys’ number-one option as the former Tottenham Hotspur man has played in every game since making his debut in August.

The news was shared on social media by Everything Celtic and quickly had the club’s fans chatting away and offering their thoughts on Twitter.

Here’s what these Celtic fans had to say…

“The worst signing in Celtic’s history.”
“Awful keeper.”
“A keeper that doesn’t make any saves.”
“Do they no have eyes in Turkish football?”
“Hail hail, Barky. See ya.”
“Think he’s right worst signing in our history (not being dramatic). Scheidt cost us finically but never played enough games to cost us points. Keeper has cost us transfer fee & point after point in big big games. Never in my years seen a keeper so uncomfortable going for a ball.”

Judging from the reaction of these fans, it doesn’t look as though many will be sad to see Barkas leave if an offer does come in from Turkey this winter.

The goalkeeper has come in for some strong criticism since joining from AEK Athens, with his only appearance of the season being described as a ‘horror show’ in the Daily Record.

Taking all this into account, it should come as no surprise that Celtic are prepared to let him go.
