A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted poorly after hearing that Gareth Bale will be allowed to leave Real Madrid this January.

Indeed, as reported by news outlet Marca, the Spanish giants would be willing to listen to offers for the Welshman and could be granted an early exit this winter, with Bale’s contract set to come to an end during the summer.

Bale joined Madrid from Tottenham in 2013 before spending last season on loan in north London. Those obvious connections clearly had some fans believing this could mean yet another reunion is on the cards.

Upon seeing the news appear on Twitter via Daily Hotspur, many supporters were quick to express their disapproval of any potential move.

Here’s what these Spurs fans said…

“As much as we all love Bale, we really need to move on.”
“Not our business + leave him alone.”
“No no no.”
“Please don’t…”
“That’s nice. I wish him well for wherever he goes.”
“We need to move on from this Bale fantasy.”

Who wrote 'Hometown Glory' about their love for Spurs?

Last season, Bale showed a fair few glimpses of his former self, scoring 16 times in all competitions during his loan move back to Tottenham.

Back in Madrid for the current campaign, however, chances to impress have been few and far between. Indeed, the Welsh winger has not actually made a league appearance since the third game of the season – largely due to a knee injury.

It’s little wonder he’s allowed to leave. Whether or not Spurs want him, though, that’s another question altogether.
