Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims surrounding the future of defender Matt Doherty that have emerged ahead of the January transfer window.
Having arrived in the summer of 2020, it’s been a pretty difficult time for the 29-year-old when it comes to getting in the team in north London, battling it out with the likes of Serge Aurier and Emerson Royal and never really being able to get a consistent run in the first-team under any of the three managers that he’s had to work with.
Well, it appears as though his tough time at Tottenham could be about to come to an end. According to a recent claim from The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke, ‘Spurs would be interested in moving on’ the Irishman in the upcoming window in order to try and fund the transfers for some other players that they are showing an interest in.
The news was relayed to Spurs fans by @TheSpursExpress on Twitter for fans to react to, where there seemed to be much delight amongst the fanbase about the idea of him being shipped out:
“I’ll pay the cab fare.”
Does Doherty need to be sold?
Yes
No
Having struggled at Spurs, it will be interesting to see if they are even able to offload him, because there may not necessarily be anyone out there who will want to take him on for themselves.
