Newcastle will almost certainly be bringing in defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window as they boast the joint-worst defence in the Premier League and have managed to keep just one clean sheet all season – not to mention they’ve not bought a centre-back since 2018.

Someone who has been hotly tipped for a return to the Premier League following a stint out in La Liga is Trippier, with the Daily Mail claiming that the full-back is ready to quit Atletico Madrid to join his former manager Eddie Howe, following previous claims he was the number-one target for the ex-Bournemouth boss at St. James’ Park.
