Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news that has come out surrounding St James’ Park and the way that it is going to look in the near future.

Despite no longer being a part of the club following the club’s takeover, former Toon owner Mike Ashley still had a presence on Tyneside, with signs promoting his retail outlet Sports Direct still being prominent at St James’ Park.

It had been reported that the signs would be sticking around for a little bit longer after the takeover, although for how long was not made clear. Well it now appears as though that time has come, with a photo by Newcastle United fan account @worflags posting a picture of them being removed from the stadium.

The news was confirmed and relayed to fans by journalist Keith Downie, where it garnered a number of responses from excited Newcastle United fans on social media:

“What a day!”
