Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news surrounding a potential swoop for Sven Botman in the January transfer window.
The defence is something that Newcastle United desperately need to fix under Eddie Howe, with the Magpies having conceded 30 goals for far this campaign, with only bottom club Norwich having conceded more with 31.
And according to a report from The Athletic, Botman, who was once described by the same publication as ‘Europe’s rising defensive star’, is on Newcastle United’s radar to try and sort the situation out, with the report stating that “it is likely to take an exceptional offer to prise him from Lille, but given their well-documented financial problems sources believe that an offer in the region of £40 million could prove sufficient.”
The news surrounding the 21-year-old was relayed to Newcastle United fans by @NUFC360 on Twitter where there seemed to be plenty of fans left delighted with the claims:

Whilst he might be a highly-regarded defender, given their tendency to ship goals to far this season, it might take more than just him to sort their problems out, but at least it would be a start, if they were able to make a deal happen.
