A number of Newcastle United fans have reacted with pride after seeing footage of their away support during the recent loss to Manchester City.

Over the weekend, Eddie Howe’s side hosted the league leaders in hopes of claiming a surprise result. In the end, however, things did not go his way.

Indeed, City ran out comfortable 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Riyad Mahrez, and Raheem Sterling – while Ryan Fraser controversially had a penalty shout turned down.

Despite the poor result, the Newcastle faithful still displayed their loyalty and were caught on camera still singing loudly and supporting their team late on when the game was well and truly out of reach.

After the footage emerged on social media, a collection of proud Magpies supporters made their feelings known on Twitter.

Here’s what these NUFC fans said

“Imagine if we won a game. Incredible!”
“Just incredible support and what an atmosphere for a team deep in the relegation zone and well beaten. A ManCity fan sat in front of me was gobsmacked! Can you imagine if we ever win something!!!”
“Proper supporters.”
“That’s us! Standard.”
“Amazing..just amazing. The best supporters in the world.”
“This was at 4-0 down Man City, never seen anything like it. Best fans in the league, I don’t care what anyone says.”
It’s clear to see just how happy these fans are with their own support, despite the and result.

Things aren’t looking so great right now for the Magpies though. They may only be three points from safety, but they have played more games than anyone else around them on the table – including Burnley, who have had three fewer matches than Newcastle.
