A whole host of Newcastle United fans are delighted on Twitter following Fabrizio Romano’s transfer update on their interest in Sven Botman.
Newcastle were brought crashing back down to Earth after picking up their first win of the season two weeks ago, as they were truly humbled on Sunday, tasting their heaviest defeat of the entire campaign, by losing 4-0 against Leicester City.

The Magpies have the leakiest defence in the entire Premier League, so it’s very clear where Eddie Howe and the club may look to target in the January transfer window, and now Romano has claimed that despite the club’s perilous position, they are ‘seriously interested‘ in bringing in Sven Botman from Lille, but they are still waiting to find out how much he would cost them.

If Newcastle were able to attract someone such as Botman, given he is also thought to have interest from AC Milan, Wolves and Sevilla, it would be an almighty coup for them and be the type of signing that could signal where the club’s owners want to go and the model they have in mind, which will be young players looking to prove themselves in one of the biggest leagues.
