Leeds United fans have slammed Junior Firpo following comments that have emerged from former Premier League forward Kevin Phillips.
Having been brought in from Barcelona this past summer, the season has certainly not started well for the 25-year-old.
Not only has he found himself in and out of the squad, starting only nine games in the league and completing 90 minutes just five times, but he also appears to have a disciplinary problem, with his yellow card in their defeat to Manchester City earning him a suspension for their upcoming game in the Premier League.
Speaking about the defender in a recent interview with Football Insider, Phillips claimed that Firpo is still getting adjusted to life in the Premier League and that he could end up costing them if he doesn’t start to perform better.
He said: “Firpo doesn’t look like he has settled yet. Maybe it will take him a while to get to grips with the Premier League. It is a big concern because Leeds are hovering above the relegation places. It is going to be a tough season for them given the injuries they have got.
“They need players like Firpo to step up and start producing performances. They need to be harder to beat and then take it from there.”
These comments were relayed to fans by the Leeds Insider Facebook page, where they tore into Firpo for what he’s done so far this season, with many of them not impressed with what they have seen, either:

Hopefully, he manages to buck his ideas up soon, because with Leeds perilously close to being dragged into a relegation battle, he’s going to have to up his game if he’s going to help keep them away from the drop.
