A lot of Leeds United fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest claim to emerge from journalist Graham Smyth regarding an upcoming Premier League clash.

On Thursday, it was confirmed the Whites’ game on Boxing Day had been postponed due to players with the virus and their various injury issues.

However, Smyth had claimed he would not be surprised if their following game against Aston Villa scheduled for 28th December was to be called off too.

And as Marcelo Bielsa’s side enter the final days of the year in underwhelming form, these fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the claim.

What did these Leeds fans have to say?

“Now that game I would be happy to see getting delayed.”

“Aston Villa is a winnable game when our squad is healthy. It’s a tough game but we could get a result. It might ruin your day out during Christmas, but this is a huge bonus if delayed in my opinion.”
“Couldn’t of come at a better time. Use it to our advantage and get the majority of the team back.”
“So Graham safe to say no action until the cup game at West Ham ? ..I pray thee we use the lay off period constructively..”
“Hopefully, give the players a rest over Christmas, get some Illness/injuries back (Bamford Struijk and Llorente in particular), and then take three points off of Burnley. Sounds like the best devised plan from Leeds all season.”
“The news just gets better”
“Good..”

The Yorkshire side have been struggling with injuries all season and that was evident in their previous outing against Arsenal, with 15-year-old Archie Gray on their bench to make up the numbers.

With Bielsa’s men currently sitting just a matter of points above the drop, it seems these fans feel this potential break could come at a good time for the Whites to reset and go again in the new year.
