Birmingham City fans have been reacting to comments made by manager Lee Bowyer surrounding a potential transfer of Kristian Pedersen.

The Danish defender has been a near ever-present at St. Andrew’s since he joined the club in the summer of 2018, making 138 appearances for the Blues, scoring seven goals and chipping in with six assists in the process.

However, his time at the club could be about to come to an end in one way or another, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, and according to Blues boss Bowyer, Premier League side Newcastle United had shown a tentative interest in him as well.

Speaking to the media recently, he covered both situations, stating: “Kristian’s contract runs out in the summer. From my understanding, we have made him offers. His agent is saying that he doesn’t want to sign anything at the moment. That’s his prerogative, his choice, no one can make him.”

“I have read somewhere there was interest from Newcastle in the summer. I had a phone call from Steve Bruce – that was as far as it went.”

His comments on the matter were relayed to Birmingham City fans by @BluesFocus on Twitter for them to react to, where it seemed as if a large number of them had washed their hands of the Dane and seemed quite happy to see him leave the club:

“Cya l8r fraud”

“So don’t play him then. Only players commited to the cause wanted at blues so move on.”
“Let him go then. He ain’t that good.”
“Hes had his day tbf. Get him sold. Cash in on him get friend back on”
“Ship him out the king of the penalty give away”
“Bye then . Nothing special . Just disappointed we might not get back what we spent on him. That’s where as a club we’re going wrong , We need players to sell on with profit”
“Not overly bothered by this, he hasn’t been the same since the Watford interest. Rather bring someone in on his wage who wants to be here.”

The apparent interest from Newcastle emerged in the summer, so whether interest will reignite in the new year with the Toon under new management remains to be seen. But either way, it should be interesting to see how Birmingham handle the matter given Pedersen’s contract situation.
