A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s take on the latest Gareth Bale transfer claim.

Claims had emerged from Spain suggesting Antonio Conte has requested the Spurs board make a move for Gareth Bale with the Welshman’s contract at Real Madrid coming to an end.

Do you want Bale back at Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, reliable Spurs correspondent Gold has revealed there is no truth behind the transfer claim in Conte wanting to bring Bale back to N17.

The report from Gold also suggests there have been no discussions between Conte and Fabio Paratici over transfers, with the 52-year-old just one week into the role at Spurs.

He wrote: “There is currently nothing to the rumour and also that just a week into his reign at Spurs, Conte and managing director of football Fabio Paratici have yet to discuss potential new signings for the January transfer window or next summer.”

And Spurs fans flocked to Twitter as they shared their frustrations with Gold’s transfer update over a potential return to north London for the 32-year-old.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“Noooooooooooo”

“Cheers, ruined my day”
“Go back on holiday Alasdair Ruined the fun”
“Don’t go breaking my heart!”
“Boooo”
“tears”
“We can still dream”
“The oracle has spoken”

Bale returned to the Spanish capital at the end of last season having spent the 2020/21 campaign out on loan with the Lilywhites, where although he was not a regular in the starting XI, he managed to score 16 goals across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

It is apparent these Spurs fans are a little disappointed to hear a reliable source suggest there is no truth behind the rumours – which is not surprising, as Bale returned an impressive Premier League goal every 84 minutes.
