Newcastle find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after they could only manage a 3-3 draw against Brentford, while some of their potential relegation rivals picked up valuable victories.

Something that the Magpies may be able to bank on, though, is that their owners will be spending some money in the January transfer window, with The Northern Echo reporting that James Tarkowski, Jesse Lingard, Divock Origi and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all on the club’s radar.

It appears very clear that Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s owners will be looking to improve the defence in January given they have already conceded 27 goals in the league, which is the joint-worst alongside Norwich City, and are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.
