Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the performance of Joe Willock during their recent game in the Premier League.

The game marks Eddie Howe’s first home game in charge of the club in which he can step foot in the dugout, but the more important matter was taking place on the pitch as Newcastle United had arguably their first ‘six pointer’ of the season against Norwich City with both sides fighting to stay in the league after less than impressive starts.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

Newcastle were up against it early on as Ciaran Clark was sent off for dragging back Teemu Pukki as the last man, but he wasn’t the only player who wasn’t up to scratch on the night, at least according to the fans online, as the 22-year-old midfielder came in for some fierce criticism for his performance, in which he failed to make a tackle or interception, was dispossesed twice and didn’t get away a single shot (stats via WhoScored), with many left furious at how badly he has done compared to what he brought last season:

“Willock hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing at the minute”

“Joe Willock has went so far downhill its unbelievable. Looks terrible every match at the moment.”
“Joe Willock catfished us last season.”
“Willock a total passenger here, no heart, no desire and no quality.”
“Willock’s plodding around like he’s been playing 120 mins already! Think he needs benched for a couple of games!”
“Willock is dead weight right now. Lost the ball too many times and not even tracking runners or getting stuck in. Get him off the pitch”
“Willock looks shocking”

Has Willock been worth the money?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Having set the world alight for the Toon last season with eight goals during his brief loan spell, he’s failed to live up to that hype this time around, failing to find the back of the net or provide an assist, but hopefully he’ll be able to find his groove soon in order to help his side get out of trouble down the bottom of the table.
