Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha would be a great fit for Newcastle United, says former Premier League forward Dean Windass.

The Magpies will be looking to spend in January to bolster their chances of survival, with The Telegraph reporting that £50m will be made available following the club’s recent takeover.

Zaha in undoubtedly Palace’s most important player, proving that last weekend with his goal against Manchester City and the role he played in Aymeric Laporte’s red card.

It means that Zaha is unlikely to be cheap. But if Newcastle were to register their interest in the 28-year-old and did end up with him, Windass believes he would be perfect for them.

When asked about what attackers the Tyneside club could target in January, the ex-Hull City striker told TIF: “Wilfried Zaha would be a great fit on that left-hand side.”

Zaha also had his bright moments last season, with Newcastle legend Alan Shearer hailing the Ivory Coast international for his performance in a 5-1 win against West Brom.

Overall, he scored 11 goals in 30 top-flight appearances, helping Palace to a 14th-placed finish. If Newcastle want to improve their options out wide and add more of a goal threat there, then the former Manchester United man could be a very good option.
