Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on The United Stand’s YouTube channel to discuss all things Manchester United.

The Red Devils find themselves stuck outside of the top four in sixth spot having already lost four of their 11 Premier League games in the 2021/22 campaign.

Would Zidane to United be a good fit?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under pressure over the course of the last month following a run of just one win to their name in six Premier League games, which came against Tottenham Hotspur.

Amid the pressure on the United boss, speculation has emerged linking Zinedine Zidane to the Norwegian’s spot in the Old Trafford dugout.

However, speaking on the reported claims linking the Frenchman to potentially replacing the 48-year-old, Romano had the following to say on the United fan channel:

“From what I know, I see many rumours too on this Zidane story. But from what I’m told at the moment, there is no direct contact yet between Zinedine Zidane and Manchester United. This is what sources are telling me from both sides. So at the moment, I know that there are no official contacts ongoing.”

TIF Thoughts on Zidane to United…

We feel United missed a huge opportunity to relieve Solskjaer of his duties during their recent poor run of form, which saw them lose 5-0 at home to Liverpool.

At the time, Antonio Conte was available and Romano himself claimed the Italian was interested in potentially taking over at Old Trafford.

However, now Conte has been appointed the Spurs boss, we think going by reputation and previous history in management, Zidane would be the best option available currently.

The Frenchman has a number of trophies to his name from his days at Real Madrid and his previous experience of working with Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially be used to United’s advantage.
