Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that he expects the Mohamed Salah contract situation at Liverpool will not have a ‘final answer’ for some time.

In all of football, some believe the Egyptian to be the best player in the world right now. Across a combined 15 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League this season, he has scored 15 goals and claimed a further six assists.

The quality of his goals have been stunning too, with Salah netting two wonder-goals in as many games recently.

Will Mohamed Salah sign a new contract?

The issue for Liverpool, however, is that his current contract runs in less than two seasons (June 2023). Romano has explained that with the Reds evidently desperate to tie their man down to a new deal, they are ‘pushing’ to sort a deal, but it may not be sorted for months.

While speaking as a guest on the Football and Friends YouTube channel, he said: “So they’re really hoping and pushing to have this contract signed before the summer.

“Because of course, if they arrived next summer with Mo Salah without a new contract signed, it could be a problem.

“So this is why they’re pushing and pushing right now. But they’re still negotiating, let’s see what happens. I think it will take some weeks, months to have a final answer.”

TIF Thoughts on Mohamed Salah and Liverpool…

At 29 years of age, Liverpool may feel that these next few seasons could be the final peak years of Salah’s career. Despite now approaching his 30s, he certainly shows no signs of slowing down.

After scoring an incredible 32 Premier League goals in his debut season at Anfield, the winger has followed that up with consistently strong tallies of 22, 19, and 22 again. With 10 league efforts to his name after just 11 games in the current campaign, he looks to be firing on all cylinders.

No doubt, Liverpool won’t be the only ones who rate Salah’s talent, though. If his contract does enter its final year, plenty of clubs will almost certainly begin to circle – with Paris Saint-Germain already linked.
