Plenty of Leeds United fans have been left rather excited after Marcelo Bielsa dished out the praise for youngster Joe Gelhardt.

The 19-year-old was trusted to start the club’s most recent game – a 2-1 away loss in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite the defeat, Leeds did show their quality at times, especially in the first half when they took the lead thanks to a fine Daniel James goal. Seemingly pleased with the role Gelhardt played in his side’s performance, Bielsa was happy to compliment the forward after the game.

As quoted in LeedsLive, the manager said: “He showed personality, he could adapt to the rhythm of the game, they are things that are important.”

He later added: “A feeling that performance left me [with] was he is at the level of the competition.”
