Dave Vitty has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about how much of a difference Fabian Delph made to Everton’s team against Wolves.

The Toffees fell to a third defeat in a row on Monday night when they were beaten 2-1 at Molineux, with both of the home side’s goals coming in the first half, which forced Rafael Benitez into a half-time substitution as he brought on Delph for the injury-prone Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Is Iwobi good enough for Everton?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The former Manchester City midfielder outshone the man he replaced at the break as he managed to control the game and help Everton get a foothold in the match.

Delph attempted and completed more passes than Gbamin, while he was not just passing the ball for the sake of it either, as his three progressive passes were the third-most of anyone in the Everton side, which signals he was trying to get them up the field to assert themselves on Wolves.

Vitty heaped the praise on how Delph changed Everton in the second half.

“When they came out in the second half, the biggest change – or rather, the biggest lacking in the first half – was just graft and effort. I know that they were light in midfield and Gbamin clearly isn’t fit; I mean, there was a massive hole there. Allan was running around trying to do everything and Wolves were just taking advantage of it.

“But I never thought I’d be so in awe of Delph’s arrival. I mean, it just made a huge difference but suddenly, there was some graft or some effort and they looked a lot better, but it was too little, too late.”

TIF Thoughts on Delph…

It has been an indifferent time for Delph at Goodison Park as he arrived fresh from winning the Premier League with Man City, although those fortunes will be a distant memory given how little he’s featured for the Toffees, with just 15 starts in the Premier League since he joined back in 2019.

To kick off this quiz on Everton transfers, which player was the Toffees' club-record transfer fee paid on according to Transfermarkt?

The midfielder, who is valued at £3.15 million (as per Transfermarkt), has suffered from several injury setbacks as well as controversially having an argument with an Everton fan on Instagram and that will have left a sour taste in many Evertonians’ mouths.

But if he can let his performances do the talking, perhaps he will be able to succeed at Goodison.
