Football insider Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest edition of the Touchline Talk show to discuss Manchester United’s managerial dilemma.

The Red Devils suffered an embarrassing defeat at Old Trafford against their bitter rivals Liverpool which has seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position at the club put under serious scrutiny.

Who would you rather at Old Trafford?

With Solskjaer’s time as manager coming under huge question marks, rumours have begun to circulate as to who could potentially replace the Norwegian in the Old Trafford dugout.

The main name to be linked with potentially replacing the 48-year-old has been the former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, however, speaking on the YouTube show, Jones revealed another manager on United’s radar.

(3:00) “The other name I’m told that they would turn to if they didn’t get their top candidates would be Eric ten Hag at Ajax. He’s the only guy in a job right now that I think they really like.”

TIF Thoughts on Ten Hag as an option…

We think Erik ten Hag has proven himself to be a fantastic manager during his time at Ajax with some brilliant results in the Champions League recently and in previous seasons which saw the Dutch side reach the semi-finals of the competition.

However, we do have some concerns about whether the 51-year-old would be able to come into Old Trafford and manage a side that is full of superstars.

Although Ten Hag has seen some good players come through the Ajax system, there is no doubting that he is yet to manage players with the stature of Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo who are in an advanced stage of their career.

One player who we think would certainly be a fan of this idea would be Donny van de Beek who played his best football under Ten Hag.
