A number of Celtic fans online have reacted with strong scepticism after Liel Abada claimed it was his goal to play for Liverpool in the Premier League one day.

In an interview with sport5.co.il (via Daily Record) he explained that he hopes to make it to England eventually, though, at just 20 years of age, accepts that this is something he is probably not quite ready for just yet.

He said: “My dream was and remains to play in England, in one of the teams in the Premier League.

“The biggest dream is Liverpool, but I have to keep working hard at Celtic to prove myself and take it step by step. Should Mo Salah worry? From me? No! He is a super player.”

The article was shared on Facebook, but it seems as if many supporters of the club he currently plays for were rather dismissive of his chances of making it at Liverpool.

Here’s what these Celtic fans said…

Abada only signed from Maccabi Petah Tikva at the start of this summer, so he’ll likely have to play a little more football for his new club before he can convince anyone he is good enough to make it at Liverpool.

Still, six goals and four assists in his first 15 appearances with the Hoops certainly underlines a high amount of potential. Who knows, perhaps in a few seasons, he could end up following a similar path to former Bhoy and current Reds star Virgil van Dijk.
