Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts believes that maybe the penny has dropped for Tanguy Ndombele.

The 24-year-old equalised for Spurs in their most recent Premier League match against Newcastle United and also had 92.4% passing accuracy in the game [Sky Sports].

Ndombele has featured as a defensive, central and attacking midfielder for Spurs under Nuno Espirito Santo, featuring in their last two league matches against Newcastle and Aston Villa in the number ten position, prior to the trip to West Ham United.

Roberts believes that the penny may have dropped for Ndombele, who earns £10.4m a year on his £200,000-a-week wages, telling This is Futbol: “Why does the penny have to drop all the time? You’re a professional football player, you should put that effort in every week. You’re not going to get in the team if you don’t put that effort in the matches, if you don’t try and work hard and run and work hard, then you don’t deserve to be in the team. So hopefully, yeah, maybe the penny’s dropped.”

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson was full of praise for Ndombele after the victory against Newcastle telling Football Insider“I thought he was absolutely superb. He showed yesterday how well he can play. He showed that he has the ability both going forward and going back.”

After a seventh placed finish last season in the Premier League which saw Spurs go into the UEFA Europa Conference League this season, you would imagine with a new manager at the helm in Nuno Espirito Santo and new players arriving in the summer that, everyone connected with the club will be hoping to have an improved finish this term.
