Ex-Spurs player Roberts believes that a move further forward to the left wing may suit Sessegnon and recalled when Harry Redknapp did the same with Gareth Bale, telling TIF: “He’s like Gareth Bale to me. When Gareth Bale first came to Tottenham, couldn’t win a game, then Harry Redknapp moved him to left wing-back and left wing and all of a sudden you had a totally different player.

“You had a world-class player on your hands and so maybe that’s what he needs. He needs to have a look at that and what Gareth does that he needs to do.”

During his two spells with Tottenham, Gareth Bale featured 237 times for the club, scoring 72 goals and registering 61 assists. Spanish giants Real Madrid signed the Wales international for £85million, before he returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan last term.

Sessegnon has made three appearances so far this season for Spurs, with two coming in the UEFA Europa Conference League and another coming in Premier League 2. But unfortunately injury has kept him out, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo not sure on a return date for the youngster, telling football.london prior to the Carabao Cup match against Burnley: “We don’t know [when he will return]. They [Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn] are improving, day by day.”
