Image for Newcastle United: Fans buzz as image from Wor Flags emerges

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an image that has emerged ahead of their game with Chelsea at the weekend.

Newcastle United supporters group Wor Flags, who have produced some rather impressive flag displays over the years at St James’ Park, as well as using them as a form of protest against former manager Steve Bruce during a bad run of form last season, appear to have prepared another display for this weekend’s game.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

The group posted this photograph on their social media page which shows their latest creation in the bowels of St James’ Park ready and waiting to be unveiled before kick-off on Saturday alongside the caption “That was difficult! Preparation for Saturday underway!”.

Quite what the banner has on it is as yet a mystery, however it didn’t stop a number of Newcastle United fans from getting rather excited about the fact that the group are back in action, having decided to discontinue their displays back in 2019 in protest at former owner Mike Ashley:

“That’s going to be a beauty I can tell. Looking forward to seeing it unfold, so glad you’re back !”

“Wow!! Can’t wait to witness this!!!”
“Wow!!!! You’s are amazing.”
“What a sight to behold!!!!!! So pleased you guys are home @worflags
“This looks really special.”
“Biggest flag in Europe to make a return. Absolute scenessssss”
“Buzzing for it”

There certainly seems to be a lot of anticipation for their display after such a long absence, but whether it lives up to expectations or not, we’ll just have to wait and see.
