Conte has been out of work since leaving Serie A titleholders Inter Milan following a dispute over the provision of a transfer budget by Inter chiefs, and is in no rush to land a new job.

The links with the former Juventus and Chelsea boss comes following the completion of a consortium takeover spearheaded by PCP Capital Partners.
The change in ownership, one that has seen the club part with Mike Ashley after a 14-year tenure, has led Newcastle to become one of the richest clubs in the world due to their backing by the Saudi-owned Public Investment Fund (PIF).

As a result, the comments made by consortium leader Amanda Staveley over Newcastle’s long-term ambitions under fresh ownership has fuelled speculation of heavy investment in world-leading talent – perhaps prompting Conte to raise a brow at the Newcastle role.
