Following the recent completion of the Saudi-backed consortium takeover at Newcastle United, the club’s new hierarchy are already pressing ahead with transfer plans for the upcoming winter window.

According to Stretty News, Newcastle United’s recruitment team have already made contact over the possibility of signing Manchester United’s Anthony Martial in the upcoming January transfer window.

Should Newcastle sign Anthony Martial?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Martial has struggled for form in recent seasons and following the summer signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Frenchman now appears to be way down in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order.

However, it isn’t just in England where the former Monaco forward is wanted though – with Stretty News also reporting that a handful of Spanish clubs have also expressed their interest in signing the France international. Despite the fierce competition for Martials signature, the Magpies are looking to steal a march on their European rivals in the race to land the 25-year-old attacker.

The links linking the Tyneside club to the French international has subsequently seen Newcastle fans take to Twitter.

What did these Newcastle fans make of the transfer link?

“It’s so surreal… Actually linked with TOP PLAYERS!”
“Get him in, give him some love and he’s better than what we have”
“He’s the kind of player we should go for, top team, just outside starting 11”
“Very underrated and underused talent. Would love him at Newcastle”
“Anthony Martial would be a very good first signing for us imo, clearly a class player who’s been inconsistent but one of them one’s where he could really thrive under a new manager and at a new club”
“Martial is NOT a “Top Player”. Waste of money. Complete fraud Martial.”
“I get that we have to be realistic, but he’s no better than Joelinton. In fact he has a worse attitude.”
“No no no”
“Couldn’t lace Joelintons boots”
Manchester United are willing to allow the forward to depart but although unlikely to recoup it all, they will be looking to command a fee close to the £54m they originally paid Monaco for him in the summer of 2015, as possible.
Despite his lack of consistency at Old Trafford, clearly some Newcastle fans think he could become a real star at St James’ Park. On the other hand, some feel that he’s no better than what they already have, and would be a complete waste of money.
