Former Leeds United player David Norris believes it would be a huge blow if Raphinha, Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips don’t start against Southampton.

Whilst there had been hope that Bamford would have returned to the Leeds team after the international break, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case, as The Athletic have reported that the striker will miss the trip to St Mary’s.

Raphinha was in fine form for Brazil against Uruguay as he got on the scoresheet twice on Thursday but according to the Athletic’s report is a doubt for Leeds due to the short turnaround.

Defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips hasn’t featured for England in either match during the international break with a calf strain, but the report suggests that Marcelo Bielsa believes there is a chance of him being available this weekend.

Norris believes it would be a huge blow for Leeds if all three were to miss out on the XI, telling This is Futbol: “Yeah it’ll be huge, it’ll be a big blow that. That’s their three on paper best players comfortably.”

Leeds head into the fixture this weekend in 16th position in the Premier League table, but prior to the international break did pick up their first victory of the season as they defeated Watford 1-0 and so will be looking to hopefully put a good run of form together.
