Many Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to leave out Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha against Southampton in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have endured a difficult start to the campaign, currently sitting 16th in the table with just a solitary victory in the Premier League this season after just seven games.

However, the solitary victory did come in their last outing, securing a vital 1-0 over Watford courtesy of Diego Llorente’s winner just prior to the international break, and will look to secure a second successive win against Southampton when they take on Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side at  St.Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Following the first game after the international break, Bielsa has made the big call to omit key players Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha from his starting line-up against the Saints.

Will Leeds beat Southampton?

Yes

Yes

No

No

And, after hearing about that, some Leeds fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts.

What did Leeds fans have to say about it?

“Atrocious”

@AndyLUFC_

“That’s rough but we can still get a result here”

@DomParry95

“We really should have signed a centre mid”

@michaelwood27

“Brb just lumping my life savings on a Southampton win”

@J_lufc_3

“This is literally the worse possible lineup we could have had, gonna be a long game”

@dukxy_

“Struggling to be optimistic for this one……..C’mon leeds”

@graeme_ni

With Phillips being an integral cog to Bielsa’s side and Raphinha coming off the back of scoring twice on his full International debut in Brazil’s 4-1 World Cup qualifying fixture against Uruguay, fans are distraught that the manager has completely decided to omit the two from his squad.

However, the Yorkshire outfit scored five unanswered goals against the Saints in their two Premier League matches last term, including a 2-0 victory at St Mary’s where Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts were on the scoresheet, and will certainly believe that their free-flowing football can cause Southampton problems once again and help them secure an invaluable second successive Premier League victory.
