Leeds United fans have been reacting to a tweet from journalist James Marshment about Raphinha following comments that have emerged about him.

Raphinha has cut an impressive figure since joining Leeds United in 2020, with nine goals and nine assists in 38 appearances, and putting up those numbers in the Premier League will undoubtedly get you noticed – with his agent Deco recently stating in an interview with Brazilian outlet Globo that Liverpool wanted to sign him this past summer.

First up in this 2020/21 LUFC quiz, which of these players did NOT score against Liverpool in the 4-3 defeat at Anfield?

Since then, Deco has gone on to question how much Raphinha would be worth in this current market, as he questioned Transfermarkt.com’s price of him. He said: “Raphinha has a superior value compared to what the Transfermarkt calculates. In the understanding of the businessman, the attacker is worth €50m upwards.”

These comments were relayed by TeamTalk and subsequently by Marshment on his Twitter page for fans to react to, and it sparked a debate about how much the 24-year-old is really worth:

“It’s unsettling this tbh, as much as I think he will go, at the same time it sucks imo. We are supposed to be challenging for Europe in 3 years according to Radz, we aren’t a short stepping stone. If he leaves Jan or summer and we stay up he isn’t Leeds.”

“Not a penny less than what City paid for Grealish”
“Sick of hearing it.”
“Sorry but priceless to us as we need to keep players like him and Kalvin and build around them. End of”
“Grealish has set the new benchmark so Raphinha in my books should be worth £100M+ as he’s Brazil’s new Pele and a better player”
“£80 mil minimum. If he played in a PSG/Man City team he would be racking huge numbers of assists & goals.”
“£90 million upwards. Better than Pepe, better than Grealish and adapted straight away to a league that Sancho is struggling in. I wouldn’t agree to sell until he makes the WC squad it would be madness to sell before it.”

Will Raphinha still be a Leeds United player at the start of next season?

Based on his production, you can argue that Raphinha is an important part of the team, but everybody has their price and it will be interesting to see if Leeds are able to keep hold of him moving forward.
