A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans are less than happy on Twitter to learn of Nuno Espirito Santo’s latest first-team decision.

Spurs picked up where they left off prior to the international break by recording a convincing 3-2 victory away to Newcastle United in a game that included two great goals scored by Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane.

Espirito Santo is now gearing his players up for their second game in five days as they travel to Vitesse in the Europa Conference League, although there will be a new-look side in the Netherlands, with the manager confirming that all outfield players from Sunday’s win are to be left behind to prepare for the league match against West Ham United at the weekend.

Many Spurs fans on Twitter are hating this decision after journalist Alasdair Gold relayed the information online.

What have these Tottenham fans been saying?

“This is honestly a sackable offense. He’s making a statement here that he won’t take the competition seriously and prioritize it. This is a very good chance of silverware and he’s essentially throwing it away.”

@IllestVillain

“That didn’t work in the first Mura game did it”

@holder_leo

“Well we’ve lost , not respecting The opponent”

@JthfcHotspur

“Well this is stupid isn’t it”

@lewis_eagland

“That’s got a loss written all over it. At least stick Kane, Son etc on the bench in case of emergency?!”

@JamieBishop90

“Crazy decision, this could backfire massively”

@SpursGnome56

Despite it being a newly formed competition and a lot of the top European heavyweights being in either the Champions League or Europa League, it’s been a difficult campaign for Spurs, who are only on four points after three games.

With stars such as Kane and Heung-min Son back on the scoresheet against Newcastle, Espirito Santo will be hoping they can keep up that top form if they’re fully rested for a big London derby at the weekend.

Spurs have had quite a few odd players over the years, but can you remember them? Here is the first one, who is this former Tottenham man?

    This is the way i would run things if I were a manager.
    The 1st team to play in the premiere league and most other matches to be played by the fringe team. We may fail initially but as the players get more cohesive as a group, I believe that is the ONLY way to win things.
    Sure you can chop and change a bit if a player who is excelling in the fringe team be moved with a player in the first team who is under-performing.
    That is what keeps everyone trying to play at their peak the whole time, and it is what I have been calling for for some time.
    The question however is if we get beat does Nuno have the conviction to maintain it because this is not a short term solution but definitely a LONG term one.
