Former Premier League striker Dean Windass believes that Rafa Benitez won’t change the system of the team for individuals.

After joining Everton this summer, Benitez entered the transfer market to assemble a squad of players that fit into his system, purchasing Demarai Gray, Andros Townsend, Salomon Rondon and Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan.

Whilst adding to his squad during the transfer window, Windass believes that Benitez won’t change his system to suit individuals and that he has been successful at doing it over the years.

“I remember him being at Liverpool and remember talking to Craig Bellamy about him, saying he never ever changes the way he plays, never ever changes his system – We are looking at him from the spectators going well you’re a left back off to bring a left back on, you’re not changing the formation and that is the way he is, but he’s been successful at it, he’s never going to change.

“That’s the reason why he’s got rid of certain players like that because he wants everyone singing from the same hymn sheet, everybody knows their roles and responsibility and that’s why they’re doing well,” Benitez told This is Futbol.

During his time in football management, Benitez has been successful winning a plethora of trophies which include the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Cup and La Liga twice and was also awarded the individual accolade of World’s Best Coach in 2003/2004 whilst with Spanish giants Valencia.

Everton and Benitez will be hoping that they can put a good run of form together and push further up the Premier League table this campaign but will be without key players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes all of whom are out injured currently [Everton FC].
