Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield believes that Aston Villa fans would like to see Emi Buendia play on the right wing.

The 24-year-old signed for Villa during the summer for a club-record transfer fee that could rise to £38m from Norwich City according to Sky Sports.

Buendia helped the Canaries to promotion back to the Premier League last term, scoring 15 goals and registering 17 assists in the Championship, and featured from the right wing in all of his appearances.

Since joining Villa Park, Buendia has played as a right-winger, left-winger, second striker and attacking midfielder, with Hatfield believing that Villa supporters would like to see him play off the right.

He told TIF: “I think a lot of Villa fans would like to see Buendia in his best position, which is on the right wing, but then you’ve got question marks over where does Bailey fit in when he’s fit?”

Villa boss Dean Smith made a number of additions to his squad this summer, adding real competition for places, with Buendia, Leon Bailey, Danny Ings, Ashley Young and Axel Tuanzebe all signing deals at Villa Park.

The club have taken ten points from their opening nine Premier League fixtures but are currently on a run of three straight defeats after losing to Tottenham, Wolves and Arsenal, and will be hoping to turn their fortunes around when they host West Ham United this weekend.
