Sky Sports journalist Ron Walker has been sharing his thoughts on West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals, his time with the east London club and how his current season has gone so far.

This comes after Walker made an appearance on a recent episode of The Sky Sports Football Podcast where he spoke about a range of topics concerning a variety of Premier League clubs.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

During the podcast, Walker was asked which player has stood out to him so far this season.

In response, the journalist had this to say about Fornals, in particular. (47.34)

He said: “I’ve covered West Ham a couple of times already this season and Fornals, who I don’t really think has particularly impressed at all in the time that he’s been in the Premier League, so far, not bad last season, but hit the ground running this time around.

“I think he’s got two goals and one of the ones against Leicester was excellent and he could have had more.

“Fornals has been excellent and it’s good to see West Ham picking up where they left off last season as well and he’s been a big part of that.”

TIF Thoughts on Ron Walker’s comments on Fornals…

Since arriving at West Ham from Spanish club Villarreal back in the 2019 summer transfer window for a fee of £25.2 million, the 25-year-old, who is currently valued at £16.2 million according to Transfermarkt, has gone on to make 80 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions in which he has managed to score 12 goals and provide 11 assists along the way.

Looking at this season, in particular, the fact that Fornals has already managed to score two goals, provide one assist and earn himself an overall season rating of 7.41/10, making him West Ham’s fourth-highest rated player for his performances in the Premier League according to WhoScored, it’s easy to see why Walker has been so impressed with the Spaniard.

As well as this, with West Ham manager David Moyes sharing his praise for the midfielder after his performance during the club’s 4-1 win over Leicester City earlier in the season, it seems as though Walker isn’t the only one to pick up on Fornals’ performances this season.

Moving forward, if Fornals can continue his impressive start to the season in terms of his performances and contributions in front of goal, we feel he could well be seen as one of West Ham’s most important players of the season.
