Nigel Jemson insists that Liverpool are waiting until next summer to invest in their squad, opening the door to potential swoops for both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

The two superstars are likely to be available next summer, for separate reasons.

Mbappe was heavily linked with a potential move to Real Madrid from PSG throughout the summer but a big bid from Real, worth over £171m, was ultimately rejected by the French giants.

Haaland, by comparison, has a release clause that totals £65m that becomes active next summer, meaning that Borussia Dortmund are bracing for a bidding war.

There is reported to be interest from clubs such as Real and Bayern Munich, along with Chelsea, but Jemson thinks that Liverpool could potentially make moves for the pair in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side only signed Ibrahima Konate in the most recent window, and Jemson thinks they have kept the powder dry for a very good reason ahead of next summer.

Speaking to This Is Futbol exclusively, he said: “I think the way Liverpool are looking at it, they’re maybe looking to do these major signings next year. That obviously bodes well with Haaland and maybe Mbappe anyway.”
