A whole host of Leeds United fans are buzzing on Twitter following Joe Gelhardt’s latest strike for the Under-23s.

Gelhardt stood out during the Leeds Under-23s’ latest impressive victory which saw them romp to a comfortable 4-0 away win against Liverpool and extend their unbeaten run to three games as they picked up their third victory of the campaign in Premier League 2.

Should Gelhardt play ahead of Roberts?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The senior Leeds side took on Newcastle United on Friday evening without summer signing Jack Harrison, but this was still not enough to see Gelhardt even earn a place on the bench for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, but following his long-range effort against Liverpool, many fans are excited about what the future may hold for the striker.

A lot of Leeds fans are buzzing on Twitter with Gelhardt’s goal.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

“Outrageous! Hope he’s in the Fulham squad”

@mattym2011

“That is insane”

@BatesyV5

“Crazy we’ve the best striker in the world playing for our 23s”

@HarveyLockwood_

“Excitement levels through the roof for Joffy. Exceptional talent.”

@LUFCDATA

“This kid is going to be an absolute superstar!”

@melve2010

“Actually is generational”

@jayknowsball2

Gelhardt is a striker, however, so is Tyler Roberts, who is regularly handed minutes in the Premier League, albeit in different roles, and with his severe lack of output in the final third last season having recorded just one goal and two assists, it may only be a matter of time before Gelhardt overtakes Roberts in the pecking order.

Who was Bielsa's first competitive game as Leeds manager against?

The 19-year old may be perceived as one for the future by Bielsa and would see his development better suited to the Under-23s, but if Leeds’ troubles in the league continue, as they have scored just five goals and are yet to win this season in the competition, Bielsa may be forced to turn to some youth players for fresh ideas.
