Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This Is Futbol that he can see Marcelo Bielsa signing another left-back soon.

It was a position that the Argentinian strengthened in the summer transfer window by bringing in Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

Ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, though, thinks Leeds are still light there and claims the Yorkshire club should have signed another player for the position.

Do Leeds need a new left-back?

No

In response to the former England forward, Palmer said to TIF:

“They were in the hunt for a left-back and signed the Barcelona left-back, but I’m sure they’ll still be looking.

“In the Premier League, you like to have if you can, two for every position. So I’m sure they will still be in the hunt for a left-back.”

Firpo is Leeds’ only real specialist left-back, so perhaps signing another left-back is something Bielsa does explore in January or next summer.

In the meantime, he can call upon the versatile Stuart Dallas when the 25-year-old is not available, so it is not the end of the world.

After some poor results in this early part of the new season, including the 5-1 defeat to Manchester United on the Premier League’s opening weekend, transfers are probably at the back of Bielsa’s mind right now.
