Former Nottingham Forest ace Nigel Jemson insists that he would prefer to see Eddie Howe become the club’s new manager, amid reports Steve Cooper is on the verge of getting the job.

The Championship club are on the search for a new boss after sacking Chris Hughton earlier this week following a dismal start to the season.

The club are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table with only one point to their name, taken from bitter rivals Derby County, and are now on the hunt for a new boss.

Former Swansea City manager Steve Cooper seems to be the frontrunner to take over but Jemson believes that Howe would be an excellent appointment.

Howe has been out of work since leaving AFC Bournemouth in 2020, having spent eight years during his time at the Cherries.

He established Bournemouth as a genuine Premier League team, spending five years in the top-flight with the club.

He departed in 2020 and recently appeared set to join Celtic, only for the deal to fall through, and Jemson would like to see him appointed as the new Forest boss.

He said: “One person for me, who’s without a job and I would like to see down there, would be Eddie Howe.”
