A number of Sunderland fans have reacted online to the news that Will Grigg could be leaving their club in the final stages of the transfer market.

BBC journalist Rob Staton claimed on Twitter that both Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic are interested in signing the Black Cats striker.

The snippet of information was pounced upon by Sunderland supporters online who quickly made their feelings known on the matter.

Here’s what these Sunderland fans said…

“Haway man, the car is running, he better hurry up me and @Sunderlandpaul ready to drop him off, be out of petrol soon.”

“Please, please, please go.”
“Please be true”
“Here’s hoping.”
“Good luck lads, with the attitude he has you’re going to need it.”

It certainly does not look as if those Sunderland fans will be too sad to see Grigg leave. To be fair, an exit has felt inevitable for some time now.

Earlier this August, Black Cats manager Lee Johnson suggested the club and the player had ‘very different agendas’ in an unflinching assessment of the situation.

It’s hard to imagine either party will be too dismayed by the possible parting of ways, but with only a matter of hours left before the transfer market window slams shut, either Rotherham or Charlton will have to act fast.
