Tottenham Hotspur reporter Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things relating to the Lilywhites.

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris has now been at the north London club for nine years after joining Tottenham back in 2012 for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £11.34m (via Transfermarkt).

Do you think Lloris will extend his contract?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, the Frenchman’s time at Spurs may well be coming to an end with the 34-year-old now into the final year of his current contract.

Earlier this summer, Pierluigi Gollini was brought in on an initial loan move from Atalanta with the option to make the deal permanent.

With Lloris’ future with Spurs under speculation, the Italian may be viewed as the French captain’s long-term successor who has been brought in to learn from Lloris before he leaves.

Discussing whether the Frenchman has signalled as to whether he will extend his stay at Tottenham beyond this season, Gold had the following to say.

“It’s quite interesting to see what’s happened with Lloris. There’s been a lot of talking about players and how they’re reacting to their futures and stuff like that. Have a look at Hugo Lloris.

“Hugo Lloris, as it stands, has not been offered a new contract by Tottenham. I know there was talk of looking to do it, but from what he seems to be saying, it doesn’t look like it’s forthcoming at the moment.

“He’s got 12 months left. He’s just been absolutely, utterly like Lloris always is. Absolutely stoic, doing what he’s got to do, being a leader.”

TIF Thoughts on Lloris’s future…

We think the signing of Gollini has been done with the intention of him working alongside Lloris as his time at Tottenham comes to its conclusion this season.

Lloris has been an excellent servant for the Lilywhites since arriving in 2012. Despite not winning any trophies with Spurs, Lloris has remained loyal to the club even though he got a taste of silverware with France in the form of the World Cup.

However, his wish to one day return to playing football in France has been well-reported and we think that may become a reality after his contract expires.

The arrival of Gollini seems timely and we feel the Spurs rebuild under Nuno Espirito Santo may continue into next summer with the departure of their captain.
