Newcastle United supporters have been left fuming online over the latest update regarding the club’s main transfer target this summer.

After the joy of hearing their side had agreed to meet Arsenal’s asking price for Joe Willock, some Newcastle fans are now worried the deal could fall through.

Chronicle Live has reported that the midfielder could be one of the Magpies highest-paid players if he can agree terms with the club.

The article explains Jonjo Shelvey and Allan Saint-Maximin both make around £90,000 per week, and ‘Willock’s representatives want a deal that will reflect his importance to the team’.

NUFC 360 shared this information on Twitter and it promptly drew the response of some concerned NUFC supporters.

What did these Newcastle United fans have to say?

“We’ve literally slashed about £300,000 off our wage bill, why on earth are we playing hardball over 90k a week? This club man is embarrassing.”

“If they’re prepared to say he’s the number 1 target then he should be paid the reflective amount. This stinks of not agreeing personal terms…”
“I can see a “couldn’t get him over the line” here!”

Since Willock has been touted as the Magpies’ main transfer priority this summer, it makes a lot of sense for him to command a high weekly wage.

The Englishman’s incredible goalscoring run last season saw him record a streak only few had before, including the likes of Alan Shearer and many other Premier League legends.

It is therefore no wonder how Willock has become so highly rated since his loan spell and why these Newcastle fans are desperate for the deal to be done – though many fear the club may be reluctant to give in to his demands.
