Newcastle fans online have responded with delight to the latest transfer update linking them with a possible new signing.
According to reports in Il Messaggero (via Sport Witness), the Magpies have ‘taken steps’ to secure the signature of Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara.
The report claims Marseille are ‘selling Kamara to Newcastle for almost €40m’, which will enable them to bid for Lazio’s Gonzalo Escalante.
However, previous reports had suggested that the Toon’s initial approach of €14m (£11.9m) for the player was rejected by Marseille,

It’s clear just how much these Newcastle fans would love to sign Kamara. However, the report linking him with a move to England also states that Marseille want payment in the region of €40m (£33.9m).
If that is indeed the case, this deal may have some way to go yet before it can be completed.
Newcastle’s lack of funds has been well-publicised and their spending will be even more limited if they are to complete the signing of Joe Willock.
