Many Leeds United fans have reacted on Twitter with Phil Hay’s latest claim that their club rejected the chance to sign Harry Winks.

It is no secret that Marcelo Bielsa has been wanting to bring in a new central midfielder for 12 months now as they failed to signed Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich last summer, and saw their attempts to sign Lewis O’Brien and Conor Gallagher fail.

Will Leeds finish in a European spot this season?

Now, it has emerged via Athletic journalist Hay that Leeds turned down the chance to sign Winks on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, despite the midfielder having 110 Premier League games worth of experience under his belt.

A lot of Leeds fans voiced their opinions on Twitter with this latest transfer claim.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

Utter madness if true,would be perfect addition”

@Haynes2Richard

If this is true we seriously need to give our heads a wobble”

@edge_lufc

Absolutely baffling”

@Dyer1998

A lot of Leeds fans glad this happened, I seriously think this would have been a decent backup signing. If Klich or Dallas get injured, we have no natural CM apart from Forshaw. We need bodies imo”

@MLufc02

“Best transfer news I’ve seen all window”

@Ashli_LUFC

what? getting him in on loan would have been a good bit of business wouldn’t it ?”

@lufcjm

I’d have taken it at this point”

@RPlufc93

“Never seen this coming… Think the fact it’s a loan (assuming no buy option) is a definite deal breaker – but I have no opinion on #Winks as a player. #LUFC”

@ThruItAllLUFC

It has been claimed that Leeds are ‘probably done‘ in terms of their transfer business for this window, which may disappoint fans as they have only added one new player to the side that is set to be a starter in Junior Firpo.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

You can never say never because the Whites did broker a deal to sign Raphinha on deadline day last summer, with the winger confirming that he only had 20 minutes to make a decision about staying in Ligue 1 or moving to the Premier League, so something could still be in the pipeline.
