Sheffield United fans have reacted online after their manager seemingly put pressure on the board to bring in new signings before the transfer window shuts.

The Yorkshire Post quoted manager Slavisa Jokanovic as saying: “I didn’t expect I’d need to be waiting so long but our general plan is four [new signings] without counting the goalkeeping situation and add one position more [there]. We are not quick enough.”

The same article outlines just how slow business has been for the Blades in the current market – with only centre-back Ben Davies signed on loan and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale sold to Arsenal.

The Bladesman shared the quotes on Twitter and it soon drew a strong response from a number of United’s supporters.

Here’s what these Sheffield United fans said…

“Sounds like he’s had enough already the poor bloke.”

“This is concerning, very very concerning.”
“He will be gone before Christmas mark my words, absolute joke our board.”

“Early into the season and he’s already calling out the board. Only gonna end one way.”

“Just a shame the board don’t have the same ambition.”

“Classic board, messing around delaying so we can turn round and say ‘well we tried but’.”

The Blades could have up to £30m to spend following the departure of Ramsdale, and it would be more than reasonable for their fans to expect to see some of that money reinvested in the squad.

But with only a few days left in the current market, it seems rather unlikely that either the fans or Jokanovic will be particularly happy with the club’s final business.

To make one signing in that time would be difficult enough, let alone the minimum four signings the club’s manager hopes for.
