Former Premier League Player Dean Windass believes that new Everton manager Rafa Benitez will make the Toffees very solid next season.

The 61-year-old succeeded Carlo Ancelotti in the Goodison Park dugout, signing a three-year deal with the club.

Having had previous Premier League experience, himself managing both Liverpool and Newcastle, Benitez seems to be opting for similar experience in his signings so far. Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Demarai Gray have all arrived at Everton this summer and all have previously played in English football’s top-flight.

Everton fans got to see their side in action, as the Toffees took on Millonarios in the Florida Cup and two of the new signings were in the thick of the action. This is because Demarai Gray scored a penalty to draw themlevel, before Asmir Begovic became the hero in the penalty shootout, as his save ensured Everton a 10-9 victory.

On Benitez play style, Windass told This is Futbol: “They’ll be very solid. One thing about it, Rafa will never ever change his system the way he’s going to play, he’ll be solid at the back and counter-attacking team in a sense.”

With the Premier League campaign getting underway in a couple of weeks, Benitez will be hoping to get set-up how he wants them to be and improve on last season’s tenth place Premier League finish.
