Many Celtic supporters have been talking about a transfer update involving Rubin Kazan centre-back Carl Starfelt that emerged on social media.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently reported about Celtic’s interest in signing Starfelt, claiming that the Hoops are now in direct contact to agree personal terms with the defender. He also stated that Celtic will make an opening bid soon and the Swede is seen as a replacement for Kristoffer Ajer.
“Not a chance we get this deal done and also sign Mario Vuškovic. It will be one or the other. Think I’d collapse if we spent £9 mill on 2 CB’s before the CL qualifiers.“
These Celtic fans seem worried by the rumour and some of them don’t believe that the club will sign Starfelt and Mario Vuskovic in the same window.
26-year-old Starfelt was a regular for Rubin Kazan in the 2020/21 campaign, playing 29 times and scoring three goals for the club. He had previously been a regular at IFK Goteborg (as per Transfermarkt).
It suggests that the defender could be experienced enough to replace Ajer without too many issues, and considering that the Norwegian was a constant part of the side, that is certainly needed from Starfelt.
